After you have all the things to make an Electromagnet, now you can make it.
1. First you will have to peel the coating of the copper wire so the wire is exposed and can be use to connect the electric flow from the battery. But don't peel all of the coating, peel just for about 1-2 inches.
2. Wrap the wire around the iron/steel for 5 or 10 turns, its up to you. You have to wrap the wire in same direction.
3. Then, connect the exposed copper wire to both ends of the battery (Battery house if you have one) to produce a magnetic effect cause by the electric flow from the battery that has been connect through the exposed copper wire.
4.Now, the Electromagnet is done. To test the Electromagnet power produced from this experiment, try to make the paperclips or staples filling attached to the iron/steel nail. Then do this experiment all over again but with different or more batteries or different number of turns of the wire.
TIPS AND WARNING:
- Put tape around your fingers so you will not get electric shock.
- Be careful in peeling the coating of the copper wire.
- To make stronger power of the electromagnet, use 2 D-size batteries.
